The horse program consists of a riding program, a breeding program, and an Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Equestrian Team. The riding herd, of approximately 40 horses, is made up of Quarter Horses, Thoroughbreds, Paints, and Arabians. These horses are used for teaching horsemanship, our training class, and the other science-based equine classes and are used by the Horseman’s Association and the Equestrian Team. The breeding herd consists of about 5 broodmares and two stallions. Tanya’s Playboy (aka Mouse), is our main herd stallion. He is a 1993 bay, Quarter Horse stallion by Freckles Playboy and out of an own daughter of Doc O’Lena by Poco Wimpy Pine (http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/tanyas+playboy). Leos Royal Bonita (aka Leo), who was born and raised on the farm, is a 1997 liver chestnut Quarter Horse stallion by Lena's Bonita (http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/leos+royal+bonita). Some of the offspring produced by the breeding program are kept and trained by students as replacements for the riding herd, and some are sold by private treaty or at sales.
