Truman's Horse Herd

The horse herd at Truman is a varied group. The herd consists mainly of American Quarter Horses used for breeding and riding (with emphasis on both Western and English horsemanship). Most of our Quarter Horses carry cutting horse pedigrees, including in their lineage such names as Lenas Bonita and Sugar Bars. Lenas Bonita was housed at the University Farm until he was euthanized in July of 1996 (click here to see a picture of LB). He was the NCHA Derby Champion in 1976, had 17 AQHA cutting points, and lifetime earnings of nearly $37,000. We now have a new cutting horse stallion, Tanyas Playboy, by Freckles Playboy and out of an own daughter of Doc O'Lena who's by Poco Wimpy Pine. We also have a sorrel AQHA/APHA stallion, Chicks Sting, who has 31 AQHA halter points. The riding and breeding herds also include several Arabians, Thoroughbreds, and Paints.

Below are links to pages of our "photo album", categorized by type of horse. These pages are VERY slow to load because of the pictures -- especially the riding herd page -- so be patient.
