Meet Kathryn Miluski
"I can get a great education here in multiple sciences, and still enjoy a broad set of skills from others here."

The Beef Cattle Show Team is a student-based club activity which centers on the showing and sale of the University owned Gelbvieh cattle. Students interested in hands-on learning in the selection, handling, management, fitting and marketing of purebred and registered Balancer (50:50 Angus x Gelbvieh) cattle are encouraged to become involved with the team. Team members are instructed and work under the direction of Dr. Glenn Wehner. University cattle have been successful shown at several local and national venues including the American Royal Livestock Show in Kansas City, MO (Reserve Champion Cow-calf Pair and Reserve Champion Bull), the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia, MO (Senior Bull Calf Champion), Iowa State Fair (Class Winners), the Northeast Missouri District Fair and Adair County Fair as well as several surrounding local fairs having numerous class placings. The University’s cattle have also found good success in the sale ring with some of the highlights being the high-selling bred heifer and the second high-selling open heifers at Heart of America Gelbvieh sales and highly sought after individuals at the Iowa Beef Expo Sales and several consignment sales. A polled fullblood heifer raised and sold by the University was selected as the Grand Champion Futurity Heifer at the Missouri State Fair.
The Beef Cattle Show Team offers interested students a unique opportunity to participate in intensive experiential learning, allowing them to practice the types of skills that will be necessary to be a successful cattle producer in the 21st century.
