What attracted you to Truman?
For me Truman is the perfect size. It is big enough to always have a new face to meet and small enough that I can walk into a random classroom and still see at least one familiar face. It was the size of Truman’s campus and the small average class size that brought me here.

What do you like best about Truman?
I like that Truman has so many organizations and that it gives students the opportunity to learn both in and outside of the classroom. This is wonderful since I came from a small town where there were limited options.

What do you like most about your classes?
In the classroom you know your professor and they know you. It is unbelievably easy to get direct help from your professors. I know that this isn’t the case at many larger universities.

What do you feel is unique about Truman?
I believe Truman has unique and above average professors. When you are in a course a lot comes down to the professor and at Truman they will bend over backwards to help you succeed.

Have you studied abroad, done an internship, or participated in undergraduate research?
During the summer of 2008 I did an internship with DuPont in Altoona, Iowa. I then spent my 2009 summer working with DuPont and Pioneer, and increased my knowledge of both corn and soybeans. I am currently doing undergraduate research with Dr. Mark Campbell concerning corn starch.

What are your plans after graduation?
After graduating from Truman I plan to attend graduate school in Ames, Iowa at Iowa State University. There I plan to study corn genetics and plant-breeding.
