What attracted you to Truman?
When I first visited Truman, I loved how beautiful the campus was. After I met with some of the Ag Science professors, I was impressed at how open and friendly they were. As I was walking through the halls as a prospective student, one of the Ag faculty knew that I was coming to visit that day and already knew my name. I realized that Truman is a school that always has their students in mind.

What do you like best about Truman?
I love the atmosphere at Truman. Everybody is here to learn, but we all have a great time doing it. Outside of classes, there is always something to get involved in. Especially in the Ag department, there are several organizations that utilize the University Farm, which is by far my favorite place on campus.

What do you like most about your classes?
Each and every class is different in some way. The Ag professors use a variety of hands-on experiences, projects, and discussion oriented classes to motivate students. Learning becomes more than just absorbing information.

What do you feel is unique about Truman?
The Ag department has such a close-knit feel, because I’ve gotten to know my classmates and teachers so well. There are so many opportunities to get to know each other beyond the classroom, like our Ag department picnics at the farm. Whether I see my teachers on campus or off, they always recognize me and stop to talk. The professors really care about you not only as a student, but as a person as well.

Have you studied abroad, done an internship, or participated in undergraduate research?
I have been working on finding some uses of mixtures of different high amylose and modified waxy starches.

What are your plans after graduation?
Attend vet school; become a practicing large/small animal veterinarian.
